This story began in 2001. Back then, we were still dragging along elements of misogyny and very marked stereotypes when creating female characters, so at that time I said, I can create my own character. Another thing I noticed: almost all female characters had long, straight hair\u2014maybe it's easier to draw, but I wanted to know why there wasn't any wavy hair? So I started doing something about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I started this project. Over the years I have been enriching this story, I didn't want to see a female protest, I know that we are different and within those differences are the things that make us unique as women, but it doesn't mean we are superior, just different, and I designed my character based on all of this that I was experiencing at that time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rizzo is a 27-year-old woman, she lives on the outskirts of Sonora, Americanized, originally from Mexico. In a different context. Marvel did it, but I had thought of it since 2001. We took different paths, I lacked budget and connections and Marvel had an excess of all that, so they did it first. But not only that, such an ordinary and common life like mine, of a mere mortal, leaves me powerless to having to shelve this idea for so many years that today it is finally seeing the light. Fiiiiiinally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It started as a comic and I made like a thousand beginnings for it, but in the end I decided on one. At first, it was going to be like a Sailor Moon-type setting because, well, obviously I'm influenced by Sailor Moon, but with the drama of Candy Candy; I wanted to make my own story. So this one has elements of those two\u2014they're not carbon copies, of course, hahaha\u2014but these two stories influenced me a lot, along with many others, like Mako, The Little Mermaid? Or Princess Knight? Or Aphrodite from Mazinger Z? They were strong characters in feminine contexts, not like today (yes, I'm going to say it) when they try to make female characters in masculine contexts, as if we were competing with them\u2014of course not! We have a different way of thinking, fights aren't the same, my character can't take down a man without knowing a bit about how to do it, although Rizzo does, and she explains herself why she knows how. And in case you didn't notice, it's the context of encountering masculine people, small and weak, as she describes them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, without meaning to dwell on this topic any longer. It will be on sale soon, years ending in the number 5 have always brought me luck. So I hope this year it can see the light of day.
